I’m Ella Feldman, an Argentine-American journalist and audio producer based in New York City covering how money, business and culture shape the world. I’m currently pursuing a master’s degree in business and economics reporting at the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY, where I also take classes in data and radio journalism.
I cover arts and culture—including high-profile auctions, archeological discoveries, and art restitution—as a daily news writer for Smithsonian Magazine. Recently, I reported and produced episodes of NPR’s daily economics podcast, The Indicator from Planet Money, as a summer fellow.
Since graduating from Rice University in 2021, I have reported on Austin’s red-hot real estate market, a vanilla maker’s attempt to decarbonize its global supply chain, and how A.I. is shaping workplaces. I lived in Buenos Aires for 15 months, where I covered the rise of Argentina’s libertarian president Javier Milei for Courthouse News Service.
I used to review films for Washington City Paper, where I was also the last in-print City Lights editor. My work has also appeared in the Austin American-Statesman, Houston Public Media, and DCist.
I’m available for writing, reporting, research, fact-checking and podcast production—unless I’m off the clock, in which case I’m probably at a movie theater.
